The Organization for Trailer Parts Manufacturers
In 1987, manufacturers, seeing the need for more regulation and organization within the industry, created the National Association of Livestock Trailer Manufacturers. The "livestock" was dropped in 1992, and the current NATM was formed. Each day, there are thousands upon thousands of hitch trailers on the road. The NATM focuses on making sure these vehicles are safe and up to the standards and expectations of the consumer. The NATM offers educational opportunities and conferences where manufacturers, researchers, and enthusiasts can come together and present the latest studies and products out there.
Overall, the NATM has 437 US manufacturer members that represent 45 states. As a whole, these manufacturers collectively employ over 200,000 individuals, with a majority of the members being in smaller businesses. If you are a small business that manufactures trailer parts, it would be advantageous to take a look at the NATM. It is an organization dedicated to improving our industry through rigorous standards, more education, and brand-making. It should be interesting to see where the NATM takes our industry in the next few years.
